Longtime APJ supporter and music legend Jackson Browne curated the intimate concert, gathering a group of top artists, musicians and actors to celebrate the best music from film while paying homage to this year’s Academy Awards. Performers included Rita Wilson, Jeff Bridges, Jack Black, Jenny Lewis, Moby, Catero Colbert, Jonathan Wilson, Judith Owen, Paul Beaubrun, The Living Sisters, The Songbirds and The Haden Triplets. Songs From The Cinema celebrated music from movies we all know and love, including The Wizard of Oz, Jackie Brown, Goldfinger, High Noon and more.

We decided to make this first show really intimate. Jackson put together such a remarkable line up that we had unbelievable demand. Friends couldn’t get in no matter what they offered. We had to turn them away. It was an unforgettable night. Jackson Browne is my hero. We’ll definitely do this again next year. said Paul Haggis

“My relationship with Artists for Peace and Justice is one of longevity and friendship. We believe that music is a universal language, one that can unite people and cultures to create change,” said Songs From The Cinema creator and curator, Jackson Browne. “Tonight I am proud standing with so many wonderful artists and activists to celebrate APJ’s commitment to peace and justice through song.”

As APJ’s long-term strategic partner, BOVET 1822’s ongoing generosity and extraordinary yearly commitment of one million USD since 2013, makes the organization’s work possible and enables the charity to give 100% of every donation directly to its programs.

Artists for Peace and Justice encourages peace and social justice and addresses issues of poverty around the world. Their immediate goal is to serve the poorest communities in Haiti with programs in education, healthcare and dignity through the arts. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, where a severe lack of affordable education and healthcare perpetuates the cycle of extreme poverty. APJ is committed to long-term, sustainable development in direct partnership with the Haitian people.
