Thursday evening, February 24, 2017, BOVET 1822 and Artists for Peace and Justice hosted their inaugural Songs from the Cinema concert benefit at an exclusive Fairfax Avenue location in Los Angeles. It was an intimate and joyful benefit that united the house of BOVET, Artists for Peace and Justice, and so many leading artists in the spirit of creativity to serve the poorest communities in Haiti with programs in education, healthcare and dignity through the arts.
The sold-out benefit was hosted by Artists for Peace and Justice (APJ) founder and Academy Award® winning filmmaker Paul Haggis. Co-hosts Maria Bello and Maxwell were joined by APJ guests and supporters Jeremy Renner, Petra Němcová, Nicholas Jarecki, Mark Foster, and more.
Longtime APJ supporter and music legend Jackson Browne curated the intimate concert, gathering a group of top artists, musicians and actors to celebrate the best music from film while paying homage to this year’s Academy Awards. Performers included Rita Wilson, Jeff Bridges, Jack Black, Jenny Lewis, Moby, Catero Colbert, Jonathan Wilson, Judith Owen, Paul Beaubrun, The Living Sisters, The Songbirds and The Haden Triplets. Songs From The Cinema celebrated music from movies we all know and love, including The Wizard of Oz, Jackie Brown, Goldfinger, High Noon and more.
We decided to make this first show really intimate. Jackson put together such a remarkable line up that we had unbelievable demand. Friends couldn’t get in no matter what they offered. We had to turn them away. It was an unforgettable night. Jackson Browne is my hero. We’ll definitely do this again next year. said Paul Haggis
